| Gladstone Steel Plant Project (Boulder Steel): New project, awaiting development approval for integrated steelmaking plant at a site within the Aldoga Precinct of the Gladstone State Development Area (GSDA) in Central Queensland. The plant will produce high quality steel in bloom and round billet form (i.e. semi-finished steel) for export to overseas finishing plants. Ultimate production of 5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of steel product with an initial stage (Stage 1) of production proposed of 2.1 Mtpa. Proposed stage I and stage II are estimated at $1,400m each. Boulder Steel Limited is proposing to construct and operate an integrated steelmaking plant. The plant will produce high quality steel in bloom and round billet form (i.e. semi-finished steel) for export to overseas finishing plants with main elements being coke overns, sinter plant and blast furnaces, oxygen plant and continuous casters. Proposed construction start date Q3 2012. Pre-feasibility complete. Boulder Steel Limited reaffirmed its intention to build and operate the proposed $4 billion Gladstone Steel Plant Project in Augsut 2011. | Linc Energy: Linc Energy Ltd proposes to produce ultra-clean synthetic liquid fuels through the underground coal gasification (UCG) of "stranded" coal resources that are considered to be sub-economic. The project will be located on Linc Energy's mining and exploration tenements 20 kilometres south-west of Chinchilla, in southern Queensland. It will be developed in stages, progressing from a proposed four barrel per day (bpd) demonstration GTL plant (not part of the significant project declaration), to a commercially-viable GTL plant producing approximately 40 000 bpd of diesel, as well as using the syngas to produce 200 megawatt of power in combined cycle power generation plant. | Mount Luce Quarry, Abbot Point: North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) is proposing to establish and operate an extractive industry (quarry) on Mount Luce (Mt Luce), Bowen. The quarry development would provide material for construction of current and future industrial developments proposed within the Abbot Point State Development Area. The quarry operation is scheduled to commence around mid November 2012. Production of 4.9 M bcm over 20 months is required for the first phase of developments within the APSDA needing material from the quarry. A period of approximately 5 months is allowed for the mobilisation/construction phase prior to operations commencing. The following activities are expected on site during construction and development: Vegetation clearing; Stripping of topsoil; Pre stripping overburden; Infrastructure construction including roads, buildings or workshops; Removal of material to form quarry benches; Rill construction along benches; Stockpiling of blasted materials on site; and Dozing of material for flat roads and to clear areas.
